Freda Nsobila Amisonga is a dedicated student and aspiring leader from Winkogo in the Talensi District. Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science at KNUST, she has made significant strides in her academic and extracurricular activities. In 2024, she was honored as the Most Versatile Female Student of the Year at KNUST.
Freda has held various leadership positions, including Deputy for the Research Committee in the Computer Science Department, Vice President of Women in Science (WISE) at KNUST, Deputy Women’s Commissioner for the Computer Science Department, and Welfare Chairperson for the Science Students Association (SCISA) at KNUST.
As a contestant in this year’s Miss Upper East Ghana pageant, Freda aims to learn, make a meaningful impact in her district and across the country, and showcase her rich cultural heritage. She views the Miss Upper East pageant as a vital stepping stone toward her goals.
Freda’s project focuses on reducing school dropout rates through mentorship. She believes in the transformative power of education and recognizes that many young people in the Upper East region face challenges such as early marriage, poverty, and lack of guidance, which often lead to dropping out of school. By providing mentorship, she aims to inspire and support these young individuals, helping them access the resources and guidance they need to stay in school, develop skills, and achieve their potential.
“I believe in the transformative power of education. Through mentorship, I hope to inspire and support these individuals, giving them the guidance and resources they need to stay in school and achieve their full potential,” she said.
Out of over 25 contestants in the auditions, Freda emerged as one of the 16 finalists competing for the coveted 7th crown of Miss Upper East Ghana. This prestigious event, founded by Ayelbis Events and proudly sponsored by Happy Man Bitters, offers young women in the Upper East region a platform to showcase their beauty, intelligence, and cultural heritage, while also making a positive impact in their communities through various initiatives.
