Contrary to what several industry players believe, Gyakie holds the view that TikTok plays a crucial role in making a song become a hit, and her “Forever” song is not an exception.
According to her, the song which made her name become a household name in Ghana and beyond gained its biggest market prosperity through TikTok.
Gyakie believes that though TikTok plays a role in making a song popular, it doesn’t determine how long the song will maintain its tempo, the longevity of a song is determined by how good it is.
Speaking on a Hitz Fm, Gyakie said ;“I think the longevity of a song depends on the song. It’s not really about TikTok. TikTok helped my ‘Forever’ song get to a bigger market.
People still dance Kelvyn Boy’s Down Flat even though it’s been a while since it was released. It came with a dance routine on TikTok too. So like I said, it depends on the song.”
Gyakie’s submission came on the back of an assertion made by music producer Wei Ye Oteng that “TikTok kills hits faster”, adding that “it’s doing more harm than good” to talents.
The afrobeats singer was on Hitz Fm as part of a tour to promote her recent chirped “Something”, released on June 10.
