Guru Wins SRC Presidential Election at University of Ghana

Ghanaian musician Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru, has been elected as the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President of the University of Ghana. After weeks of intense campaigning, marked by disqualifications, legal disputes, and numerous challenges, Guru and his running mate, Jeffery Adu-Yeboah, emerged victorious with 50.7% of the vote, securing 9,455 votes out of a total voter turnout of 18,659.
Guru took to social media to celebrate the win, posting the results with the caption: “Thank you God. Thank you team NKZ. Thank you team Maralit. Thank you UG. We made it 👊🏿.”
The victory comes just a week after the University’s Appeals Board unanimously overturned Guru’s disqualification, which had been based on his status as a non-resident student. Despite the hurdles, Guru’s perseverance paid off, making him the new SRC President of the University of Ghana.
