Shot-Stopper Cynthia Konlan Returns to Black Queens Squad

Black Queens goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan Fiindib has made her much-anticipated return to the squad after several months away due to injury. The 21-year-old shot-stopper, who has been recovering from an injury sustained while playing for Al Hilal in the Saudi Arabia Women’s Premier League, is back in action.
Konlan rejoins Nora Hauptle’s side as they prepare to pitch camp in Accra with a 33-player roster ahead of their forthcoming international friendly against Japan. This match will take place at the Kanazawa Go Go Curry Stadium in Tokyo on Saturday, July 13, 2024, as part of the team’s preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The goalkeeper’s absence was felt during the Olympics qualifying matches against Zambia and the last qualification round for the Women’s African Cup of Nations qualifiers. Her return is expected to bolster the team’s defense and morale.
Alongside Konlan’s return, head coach Nora Hauptle has also invited several new faces to the squad. These include Princess Marfo of Bay FC, Luton FC defender Bridget Adu, and former FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden Boot winner Mukarama Abdulai. Other notable call-ups include Wasila Diwura Soale, Nina Norshie, Mavis Owusu, Adama Alhassan, and Victoria Osei.
