The winner of Queen of Northern Ghana at this year’s Northern Ghana Entertainment Awards (NEA), Miss Majidatu Sulemana also known as Queen Jida will on Saturday, 8th August, 2020 raise funds for her campaign dubbed #MasksforRuralWomen. The campaign according to Queen Jida geared is towards complementing corporate Ghana’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19 amongst rural women and the less privileged in Northern Ghana.
This will be her major project after being crowned NEA Queen of the North. Speaking to mynorthtoday.com, Queen Jida appealed to the public to help her support rural women and the vulnerable in the society who cannot afford some common PPEs to protect themselves against the novel corona virus known as COVID-19.
She added the rural woman who most at times is the breadwinner in the family is more exposed to contracting the virus since she is always busy in working to provide shelter for the family. Miss Jida noted, the quest by these women to provide shelter makes life difficult for them hence their inability to purchase PPEs to protect themselves in this COVID-19 pandemic.
She said the campaign is also active on social media with the hashtag #MasksforRuralWomen. Miss Sulemana Majida disclosed no amount is too small to support the campaign, noting she will rely on the general public and the little funds she has been able to raise to fund the campaign.
The Fund raising ceremony will also witness the launch of a television reality show, Queen of Northern Ghana on Saturday, 8th August, 2020 at the Radach Lodge and Conference Centre.
